This is an exceptional property.
A haven of tranquility yet only minutes from a charming village in the Var region of the South of France.
The house is the perfect “country house retreat”, surrounded by 9.5 hectares (approx. 23.5 acres) and having been painstakingly refurbished by the current owners it offers very flexible accommodation purposely divided with separate access for friends and family, allowing privacy for the owners and children’s self contained areas.
Both house and garden are easily manageable and there is a charming “Bastidon” on the driveway for the caretaker. The owners have also restored a small Bastide adjacent to the garages to make for perfect “his and hers” studies away from the main house.

“We adore this property as it really is a “house for all seasons”, say the owners. “Quite lovely leading up to and including Spring, then glorious over the summer when we spend the whole time outside, magical in Autumn with the changing colours of the landscape and then warm and cosy with open fires during the Christmas season".

There are formal gardens as well as a fruit orchard, vineyard and olive groves (some 300 trees producing more than an ample supply of olive oil each year) together with wide expanses of land which would easily facilitate a tennis court or even stabling for horses. This is a wonderful place to have children enjoying the great outdoors, exploring the woods and breathing in the fresh air.
Accessibility is a huge bonus also. Being an easy drive of approximately 118 kms (73 miles) to Monaco, the house can be used as the perfect weekend retreat. There is a TGV train station nearby at Les Arcs and for trips abroad it is only 93 kms (57 miles) to Nice Airport for a wealth of international flights and 76 kms (47 miles) to the smaller Toulon airport.
This part of France has over the years quietly attracted well known individuals and celebrities who prefer a rather more discreet lifestyle with homes nestled into the countryside whilst still being located in the very epicentre of Europe.
Whilst the owners are not in the market to commercially produce Provence wine, they do have 4 hectares of AOC Vineyard with fine “terroir”. Following a couple of years of endeavour with the production of Rosé for their own consumption, in 2011, 2012 & 2013, they were awarded the Medaille Bronze in Paris in the “Rosé de Provence” category. Absolutely thrilling and quite unexpected for both the owners and their farmer.
In the winter, numerous ski regions are within driving distance such as Valberg (approx. 100 kms/62 miles), Auron (approx. 109 kms/67 miles) and Isola 2000 (approx. 180 kms/111 miles) in France, with Limone in Italy approximately 197 kms (122 miles) away.
In the summer, the coast and beaches are some 30 kms (18 miles) from the house and inland, approximately 56 kms (35 miles) away, is the stunning Gorges du Verdon with its breathaking vistas (believed to be the second largest gorge in the Western world) and the Lac Sainte Croix with its canoeing and boating down the Gorges itself.
As for the local village of Lorgues – It is much more than a simple medieval village. It is a very functional working village in the heart of the Central Var. You can buy fresh seasonal produce on a daily basis and there is a fishmonger (daily catch brought up from Marseille), a butcher, and various café’s, bistros and boulangeries as one would expect and every Tuesday morning throughout the year, there is a market in the town stretching down the whole length of the tree lined main street.
